Parmalee - Official Website
For Greenville, NC-based Parmalee, endless hours behind their instruments, shameless self-promotion, professionalism and an all-or-nothing approach are just a few qualities that took this family of musicians out of the obscurities of a small southern town and delivered them to fans not just throughout the country, but around the world. Parmalee's music boasts vicious classic rock riffs, flawless harmonies reminiscent of the Eagles, huge choruses and infectious sing-along melodies, bridging the gap between anthemic rock and today's new Southern Sound to create an unforgettable brand of "Hybrid Southern Rock"...Parmalee. Parmalee consists of four professional musicians who came together in late 2001 with one goal in mind: to write and perform their own distinct brand of guitar-driven, melodic music for anyone who would listen. Their sound quickly took shape, powered by the captivating vocals of lead singer Matt Thomas. With the addition of bassist Barry Knox's vocals and those of long-time friend and lead guitarist Josh McSwain, Parmalee's trademark 3-part harmony was born. Driven by the commanding rhythm of drummer Scott Thomas , Matt, Josh and Barry fronted the emerging sound known to the music world as Parmalee. The band's distinct sound developed with time on the road and in the studio while recording their first EP, Daylight. As the band toured, fans snatched up thousands of copies of Daylight. The band had thier first big break when this swell of fan support caught the eye of noted producer David Bendeth (RCA). Bendeth invited Parmalee to record three songs at Water Music Studios in Hoboken, NJ., which lead to a publishing deal with LA-based Windswept Publishing. Following the publishing deal came an invitation from Bendeth to record the remainder of the 12 songs that comprise the band's full-length debut album, Inside, securing Parmalee's credentials as an emerging new band. Following the release of Inside, Parmalee spent nearly 2 years touring, promoting and selling thousands of copies of Inside. The songs "Photograph" and "Broken Records" proved commercially successful, garnering airplay nationwide. Radio play combined with an ever-growing fan base prompted the band to release a live acoustic album entitled "Unplugged" and a documentary-style DVD entitled "Inside Live," a true look at the band, their songs, and most importantly, the fans. In the spring of 2006, after writing new material and developing the sound they wanted, the guys headed out to LA to begin recording their eagerly anticipated follow-up to Inside with Producer Stevo Bruno. The band split their time between touring the East coast and recording in California. While making the record, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx teamed up with Parmalee to collaborate on several tracks, both writing and producing. Parmalee recorded the majority of the tracks in LA, but felt it was time to get back to thier Southern roots. The band then headed to Nashville to write, produce, and mix the remainder of the record with veteran producer Kevin Beamish. Parmalee prepares to conquer the world with the release of their highly anticipated new album in the Summer of 2007.
